How is gel polish or Shellac polish removed?
Gel polish is very difficult to remove with standard nail polish remover and if you peel it off it can damage your nails so it is always advisable to book in for professional take off at Soho Nails & Spa.
This involves gentle hand filing, an acetone soak for a few minutes. Your (Name Salon) Technician will then use tools to remove the last of the polish and neaten up your nails ready to go!
Do you use MMA in your acrylic extensions?
Never! Our Acrylic powders are EMA (Ethyl Methacrylate) and (nails salon name) is rigorously inspected by the local authority annually to ensure we uphold this.
Salons that offer acrylic extensions at cheap prices are often using MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) which is used in the dental industry. MMA bonds to your nails too harshly, leading to some really bad damage to your natural nail – as a chemical MMA was never designed to come into contact with skin and nails – it is too hard to be used for acrylic extensions and can tear the nail from the nail bed easily!
How do i care for my nails after my manicure?
To keep a manicure lasting to its full potential avoid getting your nails wet for too long (constant soaking in hot baths or not wearing rubber gloves when washing the dishes) and also avoid coming into contact for prolonged periods with chemicals like those in sunscreen, perfumed products and insect repellent.
Get someone else to do the DIY or tough chores that might cause your manicure to lift, and apply cuticle oil morning and night if you can. This will keep your nails super healthy throughout the duration of your manicure and it will help keep the polish intact.
Finally, don’t pick at your manicure under any circumstances. Instead Book in for a Nail repair if one or nails have damaged otherwise treat yourself to another treatment.
How long does standard polish last for?
Standard nail polish usually lasts up to 5 days and is a great choice for temporary or short one off occasions. If that’s what you’re looking for then we recommend booking a classical manicure. It does take a fair few minutes to dry fully to avoid smudges on your manicure.
If that’s too short of period for you then we recommend booking a shellac (gel) manicure, which is designed to last up to two weeks!
How long does a gel polish/ Shellac manicure last for?
With cuticle work and full nail preparation, a gel or shellac manicure should last about 2 weeks with proper application and aftercare. We offer an express version of a gel manicure, but if you want that complete 2 week guarantee then we advise going for the full gel (shellac) manicure.
What is nail fungus and how can it be prevented?
If the natural nail is pulling away from the nail bed then it will possible that the nail fungus will show underneath. The right application and maintenance of the nail extension will help prevent a nail fungus, as well as using products such as a nail antiseptic or fungal nail treatment
Can i put acrylics back on immediately after soaking off the old acrylics?
Yes, it’s fine to re-apply acrylics straight away as natural nails are made up of keratin (protein) so nails don’t breathe. If you have ripped your acrylics off causing the natural nail to thin however, then you might want to wait to harden the nails back up, as the acrylics will just add more stress on top of damaged nails
How long does it take for treatment?
Different treatments will vary in different times. Please have a look at our scheduling page here for a full list of treatments, prices and duration of the treatment.
What’s the difference between Acrylic, Gel Powder and UV Gel Nails?
For Acrylic nails the strong resin made of a powder and a liquid mixed together. It’s very hard wearing and we recommend it to people that bite their nails or use their hands a lot.
For Gel Powder Nails the resin is a lot like acrylic and the composition is very similar. However, the finish is more clear compared to acrylic nails and its slight better quality. We’d recommend this to anyone going for a pale/nude colour on their manicured nails.
UV Gel nails on the other hand is a hard gel that will allow you to make your nails longer without damaging your nail bed too much. It’s more flexible than acrylic and gel powder and not as hard wearing but it feels lighter on your hands. This needs to be cured by UV light, hence the name

Everyone is awesome at Soho! Katie does my nails but everyone seems to do amazing. I have also had Gina and she’s amazing too! They make sure everyone gets taken care of as soon as they come thru the door!
Beautiful, clean and we’ll managed! The owner is nice and keeps everything moving while making sure clients are well taken care of.
It is clean bright and cheerful. It is so nice to walk in and be greeted by name.
Hands down, you have to experience the best massage and mani pedi firsthand to understand why I am raving about my new fav treasure cove in the heart of my hometown, within six minutes of RGA.
Walking in, I was greeted by a beautiful soul named Apple with a universal smile and a hello!
I hear a sweet sound of the water flowing in the completely new stained glass rainbow tub massage chairs. I smell freshly bleached towels coming up from the warmers. For the ones that are thirsty, I have heard of the vineyards making the Merlot delivered immediately here. I am walking out with my nude color choice after receiving expert level input and self care fit for a wedding party. Off the charts! Thank you, thank you thank you!
You get more for your money than other places. When you get powder nails or other they massage your hands which is only done if you get a manicure other places. They also give you a mini shoulder massage which is unheard of I think. They also give you points to redeem for services. Very customer service oriented! And new massage chairs to get a pedicure! I love getting pampered at SoHo nails!! They are the BEST
Pinterest perfection! Had my nails dipped and they did an amazing job. They feel very natural. The atmosphere was inviting and I didn’t feel pressured into a service or a color. Very polite. Highly recommend.
Very thorough and accommodating. I had a manicure and pedicure and I’m very pleased with the results. Great ambiance. Very soothing and relaxing. Will come again.
Great atmosphere and great service. Loved that they were willing to make my requests into reality. Will be a repeat customer.
First time I ever had my nails dipped, one week later and I took this pic and happened to notice how beautiful they still look. The staff was super friendly and the price was reasonable.
