What is an Overlay?
This is when either acrylic or gel is applied over the natural nail without the need of a nail extension.
Ideal for those who want just some slight length and thicker nails
Can i put acrylics back on immediately after soaking off the old acrylics?
Yes, it’s fine to re-apply acrylics straight away as natural nails are made up of keratin (protein) so nails don’t breathe. If you have ripped your acrylics off causing the natural nail to thin however, then you might want to wait to harden the nails back up, as the acrylics will just add more stress on top of damaged nails
How long does it take for treatment?
Different treatments will vary in different times. Please have a look at our scheduling page here for a full list of treatments, prices and duration of the treatment.
What is a manicure ?
Nails classical manicure consists of a warm hand soak, filing and shaping the free edge of the nails, pushing and clipping (with a cuticle pusher and cuticle nippers) and application of fingernail polish. The more advanced treatments will take longer and vary in treatment methodology and price.
What’s the difference between Acrylic, Gel Powder and UV Gel Nails?
For Acrylic nails the strong resin made of a powder and a liquid mixed together. It’s very hard wearing and we recommend it to people that bite their nails or use their hands a lot.
For Gel Powder Nails the resin is a lot like acrylic and the composition is very similar. However, the finish is more clear compared to acrylic nails and its slight better quality. We’d recommend this to anyone going for a pale/nude colour on their manicured nails.
UV Gel nails on the other hand is a hard gel that will allow you to make your nails longer without damaging your nail bed too much. It’s more flexible than acrylic and gel powder and not as hard wearing but it feels lighter on your hands. This needs to be cured by UV light, hence the name
How can i prevent the nail polish from staining my nails?
Nails often turn yellowish when a strong, pigmented polish is applied. To prevent pigmentation, make sure you put base coat on prior to applying the coloured polish so it acts as a barrier.
Or simply choose for a less potent colour
Can i book more than one treatment at the same time?
Yes. However, our system only allows one booking at a time. Most of our treatments have a drop down add on list so you can click on a specific treatment and have a drop down list to choose from. Where there isn’t a drop then, then take note of the time and duration of your first treatment, checkout your booking and click schedule another appointment. Make sure it follows after your first treatment you booked.
Why should i use cuticle oil?
Cuticle oil is used to moisturize the cuticle, skin and nail area. It can protect the cuticle and nail against damage and improve the health and appearance of the cuticles and nails.
Nail plates can get very dehydrated easily, but cuticle oil application is such an easy way to avoid this, leaving beautiful nails! Cuticle oil should not be used as a first-line of defence against dryness, but rather to fix extremely dry, cracked nails. It’s usually of natural, rapidly absorbing vegetable oils; cuticle oil can also contains vitamins
What causes your acrylic or gel nails to lift?
This can happen for many reasons. Acrylics take 24 – 48 hours to fully cure, and a slight knock during that time can cause the acrylics to lift.
Other reasons for lifting include: diseased nail plate, not maintaining regular infills, nicotine, fruit acids such as lemons, oranges, and other citrus fruits, harsh detergents, using a acetone based nail polish remover, medication, stress, misuse of nails, occupation, picking and biting, excessive use of oils and creams, or even just wearing the nail too long can cause lifting.

Yelp
It was a great experience. I was educated about nail care and learning that the nail salons that I frequent to in LA were giving me really bad nail care. If I lived in DC I would be a life long customer.
