Do you use MMA in your acrylic extensions?
Never! Our Acrylic powders are EMA (Ethyl Methacrylate) and (nails salon name) is rigorously inspected by the local authority annually to ensure we uphold this.
Salons that offer acrylic extensions at cheap prices are often using MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) which is used in the dental industry. MMA bonds to your nails too harshly, leading to some really bad damage to your natural nail – as a chemical MMA was never designed to come into contact with skin and nails – it is too hard to be used for acrylic extensions and can tear the nail from the nail bed easily!
Will acrylic or gel extensions damage my nails?
If you have your extensions professionally applied and professionally maintained and removed by qualified nail technicians, there should only be minimal damage to your nail plate. However, constant acrylic application can make your nail plate weak so we advise a small break in between. Beware of nail technicians who leave your nails with white patches, damage and weakness.
It goes without saying that if you pick at your nails or pull them off yourself, the nail will be badly damaged. Professional technicians like those will use the correct, branded, high quality products to apply and remove your nail extensions.
How long does a gel polish/ Shellac manicure last for?
With cuticle work and full nail preparation, a gel or shellac manicure should last about 2 weeks with proper application and aftercare. We offer an express version of a gel manicure, but if you want that complete 2 week guarantee then we advise going for the full gel (shellac) manicure.
Can i put acrylics back on immediately after soaking off the old acrylics?
Yes, it’s fine to re-apply acrylics straight away as natural nails are made up of keratin (protein) so nails don’t breathe. If you have ripped your acrylics off causing the natural nail to thin however, then you might want to wait to harden the nails back up, as the acrylics will just add more stress on top of damaged nails
How long does it take for treatment?
Different treatments will vary in different times. Please have a look at our scheduling page here for a full list of treatments, prices and duration of the treatment.
Can i book more than one treatment at the same time?
Yes. However, our system only allows one booking at a time. Most of our treatments have a drop down add on list so you can click on a specific treatment and have a drop down list to choose from. Where there isn’t a drop then, then take note of the time and duration of your first treatment, checkout your booking and click schedule another appointment. Make sure it follows after your first treatment you booked.
What's the difference between tips and sculpture?
Plastic tips are placed on your natural nails and cut and filed to your desired length and shape before applying acrylic or gel.
Nail Sculptures differ on the other hand. Nail forms are placed at the tip of your nails and product is applied according to the desired length. While the product is drying, the nails will be pinched on the sides to give it more of a natural look. After the product has completely dried the nail form will be removed leaving you with a beautiful and natural nail shape. This system leaves you with a more durable set of nails compared to the tip system. However, this does take slightly longer and costs a few pounds more.
What’s difference between gel nails and shellac nails?
A gel manicure and a Shellac manicure are essentially the same thing: long-lasting polishes cured under UV lamps. The difference is that “gel nails” or “gel manicure” is the generic term for any nails done under a UV lamp which includes shellac, whilst Shellac itself a brand of gel polish by the company Creative Nail Design (CND). It’s comparable to “Henry Hoover” which was so popular that people often call a vacuum cleaner a “Hoover”.

Love my nails! The shape and dip polish are perfectly done — and they still look JUST DONE a few weeks later! The employees are professional and kind, the place is super clean, they have tons of colors, and they’re open seven days a week! I highly recommend!
We love this place!! Best service in town!! Come see Nancy and her team they’ll make you feel like family!!
First time here and they have great service!
Nancy and Tracy are amazing. The new owners are friendly too. My mom, my daughters and I go there for pedicures ALWAYS. They will fit you in any times without an appointment! My daughter and I both get our hair cut and highlight by Tracy!
Love this place .. have been coming here for 5 years .. Tracy is my girl.. she’s great! Wouldn’t go anywhere else!! Always satisfied ❤️ Thank you Tracy
First time. Went as walk-in. Very courteous and friendly staff. Lee gave me manicure (powder coat). Excellent job. I then had my eyebrows waxed. All staff were professional and price was reasonable. I’ll definitely be back!
Lee does my nails and my moms as well. He is always so professional and has so much patience. He does exactly what you ask him to do and he listens to your ideas. He is very sweet and I would come to him over and over again! Love Nancy’s! You can always trust them to do the best job. 🙂
I have used this nail shop for years and it’s been great!! It has most recently transitioned to new ownership and Lynn has made that transition seamless. Many services are offered to include hair, eyebrows and facials. Lee, former owner has always done my nails: gels, shellac, dipping… I’ve had it all and he does fantastic work with attention to detail! His wife Nancy does my eyebrows and never disappoints. I’m looking forward to the new details that Lynn will bring. Definitely try this shop that can accommodate a variety of budget needs!
Tracey is absolutely fantastic and clearly takes a lot of pride in her work. I couldn’t tell which one of us was more happy about how gorgeous my hair came out. She told me over and over again “if my customers are happy, then I’m happy” and she certainly shows that. I’ve been jumping from stylist to stylist all over san antonio for the past few years, and Tracey has finally broken that cycle. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
