How is gel polish or Shellac polish removed?
Gel polish is very difficult to remove with standard nail polish remover and if you peel it off it can damage your nails so it is always advisable to book in for professional take off at Mia Nails & Spa.
This involves gentle hand filing, an acetone soak for a few minutes. Your (Name Salon) Technician will then use tools to remove the last of the polish and neaten up your nails ready to go!
How long does normal polish take to dry?
When you have a classical manicure at Mia Nails & Spa, your technician will leave your polish to dry for about 5 minutes before applying a quick-dry spray, which accelerates the drying process. They will then check to see if your manicure still needs drying – it is you’ll have to sit back just a little longer to avoid smudges!
In total, around 10-15 minutes after the last topcoat, your manicure should be touch dry and good to go. Just try to avoid knocking it (easily done by rummaging in your bag!) for about an hour until the polish has fully cured through all the coats.
Do you use MMA in your acrylic extensions?
Never! Our Acrylic powders are EMA (Ethyl Methacrylate) and (nails salon name) is rigorously inspected by the local authority annually to ensure we uphold this.
Salons that offer acrylic extensions at cheap prices are often using MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) which is used in the dental industry. MMA bonds to your nails too harshly, leading to some really bad damage to your natural nail – as a chemical MMA was never designed to come into contact with skin and nails – it is too hard to be used for acrylic extensions and can tear the nail from the nail bed easily!
Will acrylic or gel extensions damage my nails?
If you have your extensions professionally applied and professionally maintained and removed by qualified nail technicians, there should only be minimal damage to your nail plate. However, constant acrylic application can make your nail plate weak so we advise a small break in between. Beware of nail technicians who leave your nails with white patches, damage and weakness.
It goes without saying that if you pick at your nails or pull them off yourself, the nail will be badly damaged. Professional technicians like those will use the correct, branded, high quality products to apply and remove your nail extensions.
How long does standard polish last for?
Standard nail polish usually lasts up to 5 days and is a great choice for temporary or short one off occasions. If that’s what you’re looking for then we recommend booking a classical manicure. It does take a fair few minutes to dry fully to avoid smudges on your manicure.
If that’s too short of period for you then we recommend booking a shellac (gel) manicure, which is designed to last up to two weeks!
What is nail fungus and how can it be prevented?
If the natural nail is pulling away from the nail bed then it will possible that the nail fungus will show underneath. The right application and maintenance of the nail extension will help prevent a nail fungus, as well as using products such as a nail antiseptic or fungal nail treatment
Can i put acrylics back on immediately after soaking off the old acrylics?
Yes, it’s fine to re-apply acrylics straight away as natural nails are made up of keratin (protein) so nails don’t breathe. If you have ripped your acrylics off causing the natural nail to thin however, then you might want to wait to harden the nails back up, as the acrylics will just add more stress on top of damaged nails
How long does it take for treatment?
Different treatments will vary in different times. Please have a look at our scheduling page here for a full list of treatments, prices and duration of the treatment.
What’s difference between gel nails and shellac nails?
A gel manicure and a Shellac manicure are essentially the same thing: long-lasting polishes cured under UV lamps. The difference is that “gel nails” or “gel manicure” is the generic term for any nails done under a UV lamp which includes shellac, whilst Shellac itself a brand of gel polish by the company Creative Nail Design (CND). It’s comparable to “Henry Hoover” which was so popular that people often call a vacuum cleaner a “Hoover”.
I would definitely recommend Mia’s ! I’ve been coming here for over a year and each visit is better and more enjoyable! Awesome techs , great pedicures and nails !!!! Love this place

Mia nails is consistently the best manicures I’ve ever had. There’s always someone cleaning, they’re so nice. It’s quiet and spotless. Highly recommend!!
professional. The value is great.
First time in, better than any other I’ve been to ever. Had to wait a bit while they finished others. Was glad to wait since that meant they were taking care of their customers. My new home for nail care!
I have tried finding a nail salon that I like for years. I can honestly say I have never been back to the same salon twice until I found Mia’s. This is the only place I will go to have my nails done. Sophie is amazing and she is a joy to talk with. She makes my experience the best every time.
I have never had an experience like this. All I can say is heaven on earth. My feet look and feel fantastic!! Best pedicure in all of Oklahoma!!
I am thrilled with my first visit to Mia Nails and Spa. I recently moved from Tennessee to Oklahoma so I needed to find a new nail salon. I’m so happy with my visit today! The spa was so clean and well organized. They were extremely efficient and friendly!
I’ve visited several nail salons in the area. There are good options out there, but Mia’s Nails & Spa stands out. Their shop is clean, the people are friendly, their prices are reasonable, and their work is great.
They have an easy check-in system where you earn points on the services you choose. The points are tracked by phone number, so there is no need to carry a card around.
They have a beautiful website that lists the services offered and their prices (no hidden charges here) and they frequently have specials/deals going on as well.
There are little things they do that go above and beyond for their customers as well; they offer free snacks, they honor and keep appointment times, they work to ensure customers don’t have long wait times if they walk-in, and they make sure every customer is happy with their services.
Overall, I highly recommend Mia’s Nails & Spa
Best pedicure in my life and it was just a basic pedicure. Excellent service. Just wish customers were as kind to wear masks like the employees do for us. I’m having major surgery in a couple weeks and have to be especially careful. Thank you, Mia nails!
First time here, currently waiting to get my nails done and I am IMPRESSED! I have only been here 5 minute and I can already tell this is my new spot! I have been trying to find a good salon to go to and this is for sure it! The staff is so welcoming and nice. Even when you have to wait they give you snacks and drinks and they have a really great color selection for all the different types of manicures they offer. They are also VERY fairly priced and the salon is so clean as well.
Update! My nails turned out great! My nail tech was very friendly, he was very gentle which I loved! Most places are so rough but he did an excellent job. I will definitely return and I will happily recommend them to anyone.
